Who is responsible
Peak English is run by the owner of Peak English, a sole trader based in Poprad, Slovakia. Peak English is the data controller for the personal data described below.
For anything in this policy, write to richard@richardpatey.com.
What is collected, and why
The booking form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, what you need English for, and when you are usually free. That is all used for one thing: arranging and running a trial lesson, and any lessons that follow.
The legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. If lessons go ahead, the same details are then kept because they are necessary to perform the agreement between us, and invoices are kept because Slovak accounting law requires it.
Nothing is used for advertising, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone for marketing.
Analytics
This site uses Plausible Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without collecting personal data or tracking anyone across sites. There is nothing to consent to, which is why there is no cookie banner. Plausible processes data within the EU.
Who else sees it
The site is hosted by Netlify, which also receives and stores form submissions on the way to the inbox, and Plausible provides the analytics. Both act as processors. Nobody else has access.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not turn into lessons are deleted within twelve months. Records for people who take lessons are kept for as long as the lessons continue and then for the periods Slovak tax and accounting law requires for invoices, which is ten years.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask for processing to be restricted, object to it, or ask for it in a portable format. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time, and it will not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
Ask and it gets done. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Slovak supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky), Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava.
